Recommended Choices for the Pureed Phase

- Blended cream soups with added baby food meat or finely minced meat
- Scrambled eggs or egg substitutes
- Pureed beef, chicken, or turkey
- Mashed, moistened whitefish (cod, tilapia, haddock, orange roughly)
- Canned chicken or canned tuna (in water)
- Hot, thinned cereals such as oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits, farina, or cream of rice
- Mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes

Overview
Congratulations! You have been advanced to pureed foods. You will be adding high-protein foods to your diet, which will aid in the healing process.- It is recommended to consume 60-80 grams of protein. Consume these proteins first at meals.
- A protein supplement is recommended to help you meet your protein needs.

Tips
- Stay hydrated! Drink at least 48 to 64 ounces of fluid per day.
- Continue to sip fluids slowly.
- Carry a water bottle with you everywhere to be sure you're staying hydrated throughout the day.
- Check with your surgeon about taking a chewable vitamin supplement.
- Consume three small meals each day.
- A Protein supplement will help you meet your daily protein requirements. Drink it in between meals. You can use as a meal substitute or snack pending total protein intake.
- Wait at least thirty minutes between eating and drinking.
- Pureed foods should be the consistency of baby food. Food can be pureed by cutting it into small pieces and adding liquids and seasonings (to taste) in a blender or food processor. Puree until smooth and blended.
